"CLIENTS RELY ON US NOT ONLY FOR TECHNICAL PRECISION, BUT ALSO FOR REASSURANCE AND PRACTICAL GUIDANCE THROUGHOUT A PROCESS."

With a professional background spanning legal practice, tax advisory and notarial services, Angeliki Kouna brings a multidisciplinary and highly practical perspective to her role at SKANDAMIS AVOCATS. Her career path — from litigation and banking matters to real estate transactions and notarial practice — reflects a particular interest in the structuring, coordination and formalisation of complex transactions.

Having previously worked both in private practice and within a Big Four environment, Angeliki developed experience across civil, commercial, banking and tax-related matters before focusing on notarial services. Today, her work centres on real estate transactions, private client matters and cross-border projects requiring careful coordination between legal, tax and procedural considerations.

In the following Q&A, Angeliki shares insights into her professional journey, the transition from law to notarial practice, and the interests outside of work that continue to shape her perspective.

Q&A WITH ANGELIKI

YOU BEGAN YOUR CAREER AS A LAWYER BEFORE EXPANDING INTO NOTARIAL SERVICES. WHAT LED TO THAT TRANSITION?

The notary is an institution. It’s role is crucial for ensuring the reliability and security of transactions, acting in accordance with strict legal procedures and bearing specific public rights and obligations. I believed that through this particular capacity, I can serve the legal profession in a way that better aligns with my talents, personal characteristics and professional preferences.

HOW DOES YOUR EXPERIENCE AS A LAWYER INFLUENCE YOUR APPROACH AS A NOTARY?

Having worked for several years as a lawyer, this experience has had a significant and multifaceted impact on the way I approach my work as a notary. Beyond the substantial legal foundation it has provided me, it guides me to be more flexible and less rigidly attached to strict procedural approaches. This makes me more focused on achieving results and seeking practical solutions, compared to the average notary.

YOUR BACKGROUND INCLUDES LITIGATION, BANKING, INSOLVENCY AND TAX ADVISORY WORK. HAS THAT DIVERSE EXPERIENCE SHAPED YOUR PRACTICE TODAY?

Very much so. Early in my career, I worked on a wide range of civil and commercial matters, including banking disputes, debt recovery and judicial enforcement. Later, at a Big Four firm, I focused on real estate tax and structuring matters.

That experience taught me to approach transactions in a practical and multidisciplinary way. Many matters today involve overlapping legal, tax and procedural considerations, particularly for international clients.

WHAT ATTRACTED YOU TO SKANDAMIS AVOCATS?

The firm’s international outlook and multidisciplinary approach were very appealing to me. Many of the matters we work on involve cross-border elements and require close coordination across different practice areas.

WHAT TYPE OF WORK DO YOU PARTICULARLY ENJOY?

I particularly enjoy real estate and private client matters, especially where there is an international dimension. These projects often require careful coordination between legal, tax and procedural aspects, which makes the work both challenging and interesting.

I also enjoy the human aspect of the work — helping clients navigate important personal or business decisions with clarity and confidence.

WHAT QUALITIES ARE MOST IMPORTANT IN YOUR WORK?

Attention to detail, reliability and clear communication. Clients rely on us not only for technical precision, but also for reassurance and practical guidance throughout a process.
